''Famous Undead''

A Post-Halloween solo art exhibit by Hilary Jane, a Montreal-based lowbrow horror artist / tattoo artist.
All done in oil, these zombie paintings resurect many stars and famous figures throughout history;
from a rotting Marilyn Monroe to a severed Marie Antoinette, from a brain-eating Jesus to a blood-thirsty Beethoven, your best living dead fantasies will come to life.
All in the name of a never-ending Halloween, 666 days a year.

''Coming up with this exhibit was mainly powered by my desire to create paintings that juxtapose baroque religious art and lowbrow art.
I really wanted to create artworks that present death and resurection, this idea kicked off with my first painting of Jesus Christ as the living dead.
After falling in love with lowbrow horror art and culture (with further knowledge in art history), I immediately found a passion to paint like the 17th and 18th century portrait artists, I found it natural to mix those two styles:
why not take the ''zombie'' sub-culture art (created mainly with digital mediums) and paint it like they did back in the 18th century?'
